The Egyptian Businessmen’s Association (EBA) will meet with Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said, on Tuesday, to discuss the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The meeting will be held with the participation of the Egyptian Information, Telecommunications, Electronics, and Software Alliance (Eitesal).
Mohamed Shadid, CEO of Eitesal, has revealed the virtual meeting’s topics. The most notable of these will be the Egyptian business community’s role in supporting the state in its development goals as part of Vision 2030.
The meeting will also discuss the state’s procedures for increasing Egypt’s climate of economic flexibility in dealing with unprecedented global challenges and their impact on future development plans.
The participants will also address the need to implement sustainable development goals (SDGs) while balancing growth and social justice.
El-Said noted that the world should direct more attention to the SDGs of health and education in the post-quarantine period. Other important issues include expanding financial inclusion and digital infrastructure, as well as providing decent housing and basic services to citizens to reduce all forms of poverty.
In line with Vision 2030, the Ministries of Planning and Economic Development, and Environment, have agreed that 30% of Egypt’s investment projects in fiscal year (FY) 2020/2021 plans will be implemented according to environmental sustainability and green economy concepts. This percentage will be increased to 100% over the next three years.
El-Said added that one of the government’s priorities is working on strengthening Egypt’s digital infrastructure to support digital transformation across many sectors. She noted that telecom investments in FY 2020/2021 increased by 300%, compared to the previous fiscal year.
