The Al-Asmarat housing project is part of a wider national programme that seeks to develop all unsafe areas across Egypt, according to Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly.
Speaking at President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s inauguration of several national projects on Sunday, Madbouly said the integrated programme aims to both redevelop hazardous areas as well as provide better living conditions for citizens.
Madbouly added that the programme, which was launched by President Al-Sisi in the past six years, serves over 240,000 families that had previously been living in slums. It aims at serving ordinary Egyptians and providing them with an acceptable level of services.
