Orange Egypt has announced its contribution of medical masks for frontline healthcare workers at quarantine hospitals to the Tahya Misr Fund.
The contribution comes as part of the company’s continuous endeavours to support state efforts in combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Orange Egypt employees also participated in the drive, by donating to support Egypt’s white army of doctors, nurses, and health care workers.
The initiative comes as a part of ongoing campaigns and initiatives launched, since the coronavirus outbreak, by Orange Egypt, and despite the decline in the number of new virus cases in the country.
In cooperation with top charities, the company is keen to support the efforts of state and civil society institutions as the battle against the coronavirus continues.
Orange Egypt’s cooperation with the Tahya Misr Fund is an important milestone, particularly as the charity has launched a campaign, under the slogan “Together, we will pass the crisis”, which has positively affected society.
The Tahya Misr Fund campaign aims to implement national programmes and projects in all fields, including providing health care and social support. The project, which has had excellent results, looks to push Egypt’s economic development forward.
Orange Egypt CEO, Yasser Shaker, expressed his pride in supporting the Tahya Misr Fund initiative amid the coronavirus pandemic. He also praised the role played by Orange Egypt employees, who consistently participate in the company’s community initiatives by offering moral and financial contributions.
Shaker noted that this presents a clear message of their solidarity and sense of responsibility during times of crises, especially in supporting health care teams combating the coronavirus.
Tamer Abdel Fattah, Executive Director of Tahya Misr Fund, expressed his appreciation of Orange Egypt’s participation in the initiative.
Abdel Fattah said that the charity has provided 240 ventilators, 1,000 infusion pumps, 16,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) packages, 1 million medical masks, 50,000 N95 masks, 50,000 litres of antiseptic, 1,000 coronavirus detectors, and 50 disinfection gates in the past three months.
He further revealed that four major humanitarian convoys were launched, providing 7,000 tonnes of food, 170 tonnes of meat, 150 tonnes of poultry, 160 tonnes of vegetables, and 300,000 sweet bars. These have been distributed to over 500,000 families, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and civil society organisations.
