Egypt’s Information Technology Institute (ITI) and Vodafone Egypt have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), extending over two years, to create an online self-employment platform, entitled “Begin”.
The MoU signing was witnessed by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat.
The strategic partnership between ITI and Vodafone Egypt aims to build the platform to create job opportunities for Egypt’s youth. The platform aims to provide a link between entrepreneurs and freelancers to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The partnership aims to pick up on the global and local movement towards freelance work as an alternative to full-time work with a company.
ITI already plays a significant role in providing training programmes and initiatives aimed at raising awareness and training young people in the skills needed for self-employment and remote work. It also looks to provide youngsters with the skills needed to pick up on distinct income opportunities.
The MoU aims to enhance the capabilities of young people and provide them with an appropriate environment to rediscover their capabilities. It also looks to motivate and help them gain the necessary experience on which to improve their standard of living, whilst providing employment opportunities for different social segments of youth.
