Egypt’s Civil Aviation Ministry announced, on Thursday, that two pilots were killed after a small light-sport aircraft crashed at El Gouna Airport, southeast the country.
The pilots of the crushed Apollo Fox aircraft, of Airman Sky Sports, were immediately transferred to a hospital where they died of serious injuries sustained during a forced landing at El Gouna Airport after a test flight, the ministry’s Media Advisor Bassem Abdel Kerim said in a statement.
The victims, Mohamed Saeed, 61, and Akram Al-Hosary, 63, were in coma and suffered multiple fractures, brain hemorrhage, and suspected concussion.
The Civil Aviation Ministry has formed a special committee to investigate the incident and identify the causes of the crash.
Later on Thursday, Egyptian Public Prosecutor has ordered a probe into the incident and sent investigators to the crash site.
