Egypt’s oil and gas sector companies have donated EGP 4.5m to purchase medical supplies and equipment as the country continues its efforts to curb the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The donations will see the purchase of equipment including medical gowns, goggles, surgical masks, and other needed medical supplies, and will be carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Health.
The initiative is being undertaken in partnership with Misr El Kheir, which has provided the support needed to purchase the required materials. All items purchased have been subject to review and inspection by the Ministry of Health, to ensure adherence to the required specifications.
The initiative, entitled “Eed Wahda” (‘One Hand’), was launched under the auspices of Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla. It also provides the opportunity for Egypt’s oil and gas sector to offer its support to the country amid the pandemic.
The companies who have participated in the initiative include: Shell; Wintershall Dea; Energean; ExxonMobil; Total; Advanced Energy Systems (ADES); Apex International Energy; Bechtel; Cheiron Petroleum Corporation; Dana Gas; ENAP Sipetrol; Energean; IPR Group; Kuwait Energy; Methanex; Neptune Energy; Petronas; Schlumberger; TransGlobe Energy.
During the pandemic, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has maintained its focus on protecting the health and safety of its workforce, partners and communities.
