President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi participated in a tripartite summit, held in the Jordanian capital Amman on Tuesday, with King Abdullah II of Jordan and Iraq’s Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
The summit addressed means of boosting mutual cooperation between the three countries particularly in the fields related to energy, electricity, infrastructure and food. The three heads of state also discussed the political and security challenges facing the region, including combating terrorism.
In addition, the three leaders discussed regional issues including the Palestinian Cause, as they stressed the need for the Palestinian people to receive all their legitimate rights in accordance with international legitimacy. For his part, President Al-Sisi expressed Egypt’s readiness to transfer its expertise in various fields to both Jordan and Iraq.
The summit, which is being held for the third time, also touched on the situations in Syria, Libya and Yemen. The leaders agreed to intensify coordination in the coming period to reach political settlements on the issues that affect the Arab region’s security and stability, and preserves the integrity and independence of Arab states.
Before the summit, Al-Sisi and King Abdullah II discussed boosting bilateral relations between Cairo and Amman, as well as regional and international issues in mutual concern.
During the meeting, Al-Sisi praised the distinguished relations between the two countries at all levels. He expressed Egypt’s keenness to boost relations with Jordan in issues of mutual concern. The president also lauded the coordination between Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, whislt stressing Egypt’s keenness on boosting mutual Arab efforts to confront regional threats.
For his part, King Abdullah II praised Jordanian-Egyptian relations, and expressed his aspiration for developing these relations. He also praised Egypt’s pivotal role in the region and its efforts for achieving stability and combating terrorism.
The discussions between the two leaders addressed means of boosting bilateral relations in the economic, commercial, investment fields.
Al-Sisi and King Abdullah II also discussed the mutual efforts for countering terrorism, stressing the importance of supporting international efforts in this area.
