Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has announced the construction violations reconciliation period, which is due to come to a close at the end of September 2020, will not be extended.
Once the period comes to an end, the Reconciliation Law on Building Violations will be implemented, and the immediate removal of violations that have not been reconciled will begin.
Madbouly added that Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik has issued a mandate for all security directors nationwide to fully coordinate in this regard. This will also ensure that security forces are quickly equipped to secure the process of removing buildings that violate the law.
The Prime Minister also noted that the volume of removals carried out during the recent period for construction violations is unprecedented. He said, “We are continuing to implement the law, and we will prevent further illegal construction.”
Madbouly disclosed that immediate procedures have been taken to remove these violations, and legal measures are underway against the violators.
He confirmed that there will be “no tolerance of any building violation on agricultural lands, as these violations represent a matter of life or death for us.”
Tawfik stressed that removal procedures are currently underway in relation to all violations, and coordination is being made with the concerned authorities.
He added that coordination is being made with state authorities to help monitor violations, and that a number of major violators, including contractors, have also been seized and were brought to Military Prosecution.
Tawfik confirmed that a specialised unit will be formed to coordinate with central units of governorates regarding building violations to receive notifications of violations.
The minister added, “We are ready to secure process of removing building violations anywhere.”
On the other hand, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Development Assem El Gazzar announced that an online programme will be implemented to monitor violations on the ground by specialists.
