Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani has met with Beni Suef Governor Mohamed Hani Ghoneim, to discuss ways of strengthening boosting the governorate’s tourism.
The meeting was attended by Ayman Ashmawy, Head of the Egyptian Antiquities Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the mechanisms of developing a strategic plan to put the governorate on Egypt’s tourism map. This will take place by developing and raising the efficiency of tourism services at the governorate’s various archaeological sites.
The plan aims to attract more visitors to the Beni Suef Governorate’s important sites, the most prominent of which include its pyramid area and oasis at Meidum.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Anani affirmed his ministry’s keenness to boost Egypt’s tourism, through an integrated plan as part of the country’s development strategy and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The minister pointed out that one of the most important projects made in this regard have been in developing new tourist attractions and investing in resources.
During the meeting, the comprehensive vision and future directions for the development of the Beni Suef Governorate’s tourism sector were reviewed, among other topics.
For his part, Ghoneim expressed his appreciation for the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ qualitative efforts in the tourism sector. He noted that the most important of these have been its work in boosting and supporting Egypt’s tourism sector through economic crises.
The Governor added that Beni Suef has prepared a tourism strategy for the next five years, aimed at obtaining a distinguished place on the local and global tourist map for Beni Suef.
Ghoneim stressed that cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will contribute significantly to the plan’s implementation.
