The Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) to facilitate procedures for issuing tax reference number for new projects.
The agreement aims to support integration of the informal sector into the formal sector.
El Sayed Sakr, Head of the ETA’s Central Administration, explained that as per the new MoU, the authority will provided its services directly through one-stop-shop units.
He added that the ETA has 31 one-stop-shop units covering all governorates, in addition to four offices in industrial areas; Borg El Arab, 10th of Ramadan, Helwan, and 6th of October cities. All these units will be connected online.
Reda Abdel Kader, Head of the ETA, stressed that micro, small, and medium enterprises will play a major role in achieving the country’s economic and social development goals during the next stage. Such projects can contribute significantly to the GDP, create employment opportunities, and increase growth, if they receive adequate incentives and financing.
