The Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt, together with the Swiss-Egyptian Business Association (SEBA), launched a Technical and Vocational Education Seminar targeting the needs and challenges of the country’s private sector in Egypt.
The seminar will also focus on the potential opportunities in Egyptthat Swiss companies may benefit from taking part in. It will showcase the best of the existing practices in Egypt, including in the public and private sectors, while discussing sustainable solutions.
The initiative is a follow-up to the visit of Swiss Federal Councillor and Minister of Economic Affairs, Education and Research Guy Parmelin to Egypt in February 2020.
“With an interest in supporting the Egyptian labour market in general, and Swiss companies operating in Egypt in particular, this workshop is about Swiss business actors and the Egyptian government working together to promote technical and vocational education and training,” said Paul Garnier, Ambassador of Switzerland in Egypt, “Our goal is to put together a process and structure to bring forward this cooperation.”
The seminar comes as part of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Reform Programme (TVET Egypt), an initiative that is co-funded by the Egyptian Government and the European Union (EU).
TVET is one of the key engines of Switzerland’s global competitiveness, innovation and thriving economy. The seminar will look at the existing TVET practices and possible short or mid-term sustainable solutions.
Furthermore, a core team consisting of the Swiss private sector, the Egyptian government, and other stakeholders, will be established to implement opportunities identified during the seminar.
