Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry met, on Thursday, with Russian Minister of Industry and Commerce Denis Manturov in Moscow to discuss boosting relations between the two countries.
Shoukry expressed Egypt’s aspiration to resume charter flights from Russia to Red Sea resort cities of Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada in Egypt, especially after the recent developments carried out by Egyptian airports in terms of security measures.
Moreover, they discussed the latest developments regarding the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Shoukry stressed that Egypt supports Russia in its combat against the pandemic, and expressed Egypt’s readiness to cooperate with Russia in manufacturing potential vaccines against the disease.
They also touched on the Egyptian-Russian cooperation in transportation and energy fields, especially the recent deal to supply 1,300 train cars to Egypt.
Both ministers also discussed developments related to the Dabaa nuclear power plant, stressing their commitment to move forward with the project.
Furthermore, Shoukry affirmed Egypt’s commitment to complete the procedures for implementing the Russian industrial zone project in the Suez Canal axis.
