Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi directed, on Sunday, for the government to provide all the necessary production inputs to turn the Damietta Furniture City into an integrated industrial hub.
The President’s instructions came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Presidential Advisor for National and Strategic Projects Sherif Ismail, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi, and Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea. The meeting was also attended by Damietta Governor Manal Awad Mikhael, and Chaiperson of the Damietta Furniture Company Osama Abdel Moneim.
The meeting followed up on the developments that have taken place in the Damietta Furniture City, and the Egyptian furniture industry in general.
President Al-Sisi called for all support to be provided to turn the Damietta Furniture City into an integrated and specialised centre of Egypt’s furniture industry.
He called for the implementation of the latest international designs and advanced production lines, in order to meet the local need inside Egypt. These developments would also help in opening up Egypt’s horizons for exporting furniture to the African and Arab markets.
Accordingly, this will pave the way for attracting investments in the city, boost industrial capacity in Damietta Governorate, and create direct and indirect employment opportunities.
President Al-Sisi was briefed on Damietta governorate’s action plan to develop its furniture industry, and the current situation regarding Damietta Furniture City and its industrial zone. The briefing additionally reviewed the complementary industries complex, workshops of various types and sizes, hangars, and exhibition complexes and services.
