Incumbent US President Donald Trump claimed the results available in the US election are a “major fraud” against the US public as he addressed his supporters, early on Wednesday morning, at the White House.
“This is an embarrassment to our country,” he said, “We will win this, and as far as I’m concerned, we already have.”
He also said that he will “be going to the US Supreme Court”, and that he wants “all voting to stop”.
Meanwhile, the campaign team of Trump’s Democrat rival Joe Biden says it will fight any efforts by President Donald Trump’s campaign to go to the US Supreme Court to prevent ballots from being tabulated.
In a statement responding to the President’s comments, Joe Biden’s Campaign Manager, Jen O’Malley Dillon, said, “The president’s statement tonight about trying to shut down the counting of duly cast ballots was outrageous, unprecedented, and incorrect.”
“If the president makes good on his threat to go to court to try to prevent the proper tabulation of votes, we have legal teams standing by ready to deploy to resist that effort,” O’Malley Dillon added. She added that Biden’s legal teams “will prevail”.
Trump has won the states of Florida, Texas, Ohio, Kentucky, Kansas, Louisiana, Indiana, Wyoming, West Virginia, South Carolina, Idaho, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Utah, South Dakota, North Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, and Montana.
Biden, on the other hand, has sealed Maine, Arizona, Hawaii, Minnesota, Colorado, New Mexico, California, New Hampshire, Oregon, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Illinois, Delaware,and Connecticut, as well as the District of Columbia.
There are still hundreds of thousands of votes still to be counted in several key battleground states, after an unprecedented number of people cast mail-in ballots ahead of Election Day.
Trump has repeatedly suggested that mail-in voting could lead to an increase in fraud, although he has provided no evidence to back up this claim.
Earlier on Wednesday, he told his supporters, “We’ll be going to the US Supreme Court … we want all voting to stop.
