Egyptians expatriates will be able to print their mail-in ballots on Thursday and Friday for the run-offs of the second phase of the country’s House of Representatives elections.
The governorates included in this round of voting are: Cairo, Qaliubiya, Daqahleya, Menoufiya, Gharbeya, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqeya, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, and South Sinai.
Run-offs will be limited to candidates running under the individual system who will compete for the 101 undecided seats.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Egyptians living abroad who have previously registered to enter the official website of the National Elections Authority (NEA) on 3-4 December. They will be able to print and fill out the ballot card, ensure that all documents are attached, and proceed to the nearest post office to send ballots to the Egyptian diplomatic mission in their country of residence.
Egyptian diplomatic missions around the world are set to receive mail-in ballots over a period of three days, until 7 December.
According to the NEA, expatriate Egyptians will complete the casting of their votes in the House of Representatives elections 2020 through postal voting. This feature has been put in place in light of the exceptional measures taken worldwide to confront the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
On Monday, the NEA announced the results for first phase run-offs held earlier this month. Up to 42 individual seats were secured during the first round, with the 142 seats reserved for candidates running under the party list system taken in a landslide by the electoral list led by pro-government Mostaqbal Watan Party.
