Al Ahly SC, under South African coach Pitso Mosimane, aim to win the treble this season and pour a “salt mine” into their bitter rivals’ (Zamalek) wounds. The Cairo giants will face Tala’ea El Gaish SC in the Egypt Cup final on Saurday, after they won the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League.
Al Ahly qualified to the cup final a 2-0 victory on Al-Ittihad Al-Iskandari on Tuesday.
This is the second final game for Al Ahly within less than 10 days, which requires Mosimane to prepare his players mentally for the match.
Al Ahly will hold a closed training camp on Thursday, so that the team can prepare well for the match, and protect the players from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
A state of great satisfaction prevailed after the difficult victory over Al-Ittihad in the semi-finals of the Egypt Cup.
Al Ahly’s Assistant Coach Sami Komsan expressed his delight at the victory, allowing the team to qualify for the Cup final. He added, in statements after the match, that the victory was difficult, which is normal in cup matches. He also noted that Al-Ittihad is a good team and gave Al Ahly a strong clash.
In the same context, the team’s technical staff is awaiting the results of recent COVID-19 tests that were undertaken by Walid Soliman, Mohamed Sherif, and Aliou Dieng. The trio took the tests on Wednesday, to determine who will be ready to play in the upcoming match.
The players underwent isolation time in the last period, after testing positive for the coronavirus. Their test results ensured that all three have been out of action in recent weeks.
