Blackboard, a global EdTech software and solutions company, announced that it has partnered with Cairo University to help drive student success. Cairo University is leveraging Blackboard’s fully integrated cloud learning management system (LMS), Blackboard Learn, and virtual classroom solution, Blackboard Collaborate, to create an agile and scalable connected learning environment for over 250,000 students spread across 27 colleges, centers, and institutes.
Founded in 1908, Cairo University is Egypt’s oldest modern university and a leading higher education institution and among the top ranked universities in Africa.
“We are pleased to partner with Cairo University and help them to achieve their online learning and academic goals,” said Oleg Figlin, Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Blackboard. “Our fully integrated cloud LMS and virtual classroom solutions will help Cairo University achieve its long-term strategy to enhance its digital teaching and learning infrastructure.”
Mohamed Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, said, “We selected Blackboard as our teaching and learning partner to take learning to the next level with a powerful and flexible cloud LMS and virtual classroom solution.”
He added, “We needed a solution that would meet our needs now as well as scale in line with our vision for the future. Simultaneously, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent shift to remote learning underlined our need for a solution that ensured continuity in times of flux.”
Blackboard’s cloud LMS and virtual classroom solutions provide the foundation for Cairo University’s Smart Campus educational platform, a set of integrated systems including third-party applications such as Assessment Gourmet, scientific reference, plagiarism, data privacy, and confidentiality systems.
Hanny Alshazly, Regional Vice President for the Middle East at Blackboard, commented, “Egypt has always served as a beacon of education across the region. We are honoured to enter a strategic alliance with one of the nation’s leading universities. We will apply our years of experience in serving millions of learners globally, as well as our local expertise, to better support Cairo University.”
