Reda Abdel Kader, Chairperson of the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), has formed a work team to provide support to financiers wishing to join the electronic invoice (e-invoice) system.
In a statement on Thursday, Abdel Kader said that team will provide technical and field support to financiers, and communicate with them to overcome any obstacles they may face in joining the system.
The team will also communicate with financiers via several methods, such as e-mail, SMS, and phone calls. The ETA will provide, through the work team, technical support to companies on the ground.
Abdel Kader also confirmed that the authority is keen to spread awareness on all tax developments in Egypt, which will take place through seminars organised in cooperation with various tax community institutions.
He added that the e-invoice system is a continuation of the package of measures pursued by the Ministry of Finance and the ETA towards full automation. As part of these efforts, the system also requires a need for greater awareness on what the system entails.
For his part, Samir El-Delgawy, head of the Tax Committee at the Alexandria Business Association (ABA), said that 2020 has witnessed the issuance of many tax laws and ministerial decisions that will lead to the ETA’s digitisation.
