President Al-Sisi concludes 6th session of Egyptian parliament

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has issued Decision No. 714 of 2020, to conclude the Egyptian Parliament sixth session as of 20 December 2020.

On 16 December, Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal concluded the session, which witnessed the discussion of a number of international agreements.

Abdel Aal said that, according to Article 274 of the parliament’s bylaws, the President should conclude the parliamentary session after the approval of the House of Representatives.

During the current parliament’s six sessions, it approved about 308 international agreements, including 85 agreements that were approved during its last two sessions.

The total number of laws issued by the outgoing parliament stands at about 891 laws, including economic laws that were intended to conduct Egypt’s economic reform.

In 2015, the parliament worked on the issuance of 342 laws during the first 15 days of its first session, and also worked on issuing the bylaws for the House of Representatives.
