Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has extended the period of receiving reconciliation requests over construction violations until March 2021.
Once the period comes to an end, the Reconciliation Law on Building Violations will be implemented, and the immediate demolition of violations that have not been reconciled will begin.
Madbouly added that the government has issued a mandate for all security directors nationwide to fully coordinate in this regard. This will also ensure that security forces are quickly equipped to secure the process of removing buildings that violate the law.
The Prime Minister also noted that the volume of building violation removals carried out during the recent period is unprecedented.
A total of 1.1m reconciliation requests on building violations were submitted across Egypt from 15 July to 14 September. The total collected reconciliation fees reached EGP 6.9bn in this period.
Madbouly stressed that a large part of the sums collected from the construction violation reconciliation will be directed to development projects and upgrading public services.
