Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced that jet fuel prices will be cut to reach 15 cents per gallon, effective from 21 January until the year end.
A high-level government meeting has taken place to launch the initiative in support of Egypt’s tourism and civil aviation sectors.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani, and Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar Enaba.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed a number of important issues to support and stimulate Egypt’s tourism and civil aviation sectors. This comes in light of the continuous coordination and full cooperation between the three ministries to support these vital activities.
The move aims to help the country’s tourism and civil aviation sectors face the challenges caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and the effects the pandemic has had on these two sectors.
For his part, Al-Anany praised the initiative which he said will positively contribute to increasing tourism movement to Egypt. It will do so by motivating international tourism companies to increase the number of their trips to the country’s tourist destinations. This is particularly as the activities of the civil aviation sector have a direct impact on tourism.
Enaba said that, through its initiatives, the petroleum sector continuously has taken on a pioneering role in supporting aviation. The former also plays an important role in providing aviation fuel at all airports nationwide, with Enaba adding that there is full coordination and cooperation between the petroleum, civil aviation and tourism sectors.
