The Egyptian Parliament’s social solidarity and family committee gave its initial approval, on Saturday, of draft amendments to a law honouring victims, missing people, and those wounded in war, terrorist, and security operations. The amendments also cover their families.
The committee approved amending Clause 5 of Article 6, which stipulates the provision of free registration and renewal at youth centres, clubs, and sports facilities affiliated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It also stipulates free entry to all public museums, parks, gardens, theatres, and cultural palaces.
Further amendments mean that an EGP 5 tax will be imposed on services or documents provided or issued by public entities, public sector bodies, public enterprise sector companies, and fully state-owned companies for the interest of this category.
According to Article 7 of the law, the tax includes tickets to sports matches, concerts and music festivals if the ticket value is EGP 50 or more.
The same article extends to requests for booking land, residential or administrative units offered by the state, requests to participate in clubs, as well as flight tickets.
