Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anany met, on Monday, with several tourism sector representatives to discuss amendments to Egypt’s travel companies law.

The meeting tackled draft amendments to Law No 38/1977 on organising the activities of travel companies in Egypt, which was amended by Law No 118/1981.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the possibility of amending some provisions of the law, to guarantee rights of tourism and travel companies. This will also help them improve their performance to keep pace with recent trends in the tourism industry.
In addition to this, there has also been the inclusion of amendments to articles relating to digitisation services, governance, and other amendments that benefit the entire tourism sector.
At the end of 2020, the Egyptian Government had completed a draft law amending the provisions of Law No 1/1973 on hotel and tourism establishments, which has been sent to the cabinet.
A law governing the establishment of the Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Tourism, which dates back to 1968, is also being amended. This comes as part of the continuous cooperation between the Ministry Tourism and Antiquities, the Federation and tourism chambers, to update all laws related to Egypt’s tourism sector.
