Egypt has ranked as foremost among the world’s top sought-after destinations in the current period, according to an opinion survey conducted by the Swiss tourism magazine, Travel INSIDE.
The country outperformed many other tourist destinations such as the Maldives, the Caribbean and Turkey. This may be a case of pandemic blues, as the Swiss government has put in place strict measures to contain the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, said that Swiss tour operators have said the results of this survey are a very positive indicator. They confirm the confidence that Swiss tourists place in Egypt, due to its geographical location, picturesque beaches and year-round sunny weather, especially at times when Europe is cold and snowing.
Mohamed Farag, Head of the Board’s International Tourism Department, said that Swiss tour operators have said that the results of the survey have ensured they are now reconsidering the marketing of Egyptian tourism products.
They added that the survey has helped enhance tourist confidence in the safety of Egyptian tourist destinations and the precautionary measures and health safety controls taken by the Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
