Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received, on Thursday, Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries and regional issues of mutual concern.
The meeting was held in Cairo in the presence of Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Head of the General Intelligence Service (GIS) Abbas Kamel.
During the meeting, Al-Sisi and Al Khasawneh addressed the cooperation between the two countries in several fields, especially energy, combating terrorism and extremism, and trade exchange.
They also discussed effective mechanisms for the implementation of projects agreed upon within the framework of the trilateral cooperation framework with Iraq.
Moreover, the two sides exchanged visions on the latest developments in the regional situation, and agreed on the importance of continuing mutual coordination and joint efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement of various disputes in the region.
The meeting also touched on the developments of the peace process in the Middle East and the Egyptian-Jordanian coordination in this regard. They both stressed the importance of working together to intensify international efforts to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on international legitimacy decisions.
President Al-Sisi praised the level of cooperation between Cairo and Amman, and expressed Egypt’s keenness on continuing coordination between the two countries.
For his part, Al Khasawneh stressed his country’s desire to boost its relations with Egypt in the light of the latter’s pivotal role in different regional and international issues.
