Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry has held a phone meeting with his Tunisian counterpart Othman Jerandi, during which they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
During the conversation, the two ministers also discussed methods of activating the existing cooperation frameworks between Egypt and Tunisia as soon as possible.
Shoukry and Jerandi also stressed the need for continuing Arab efforts aimed at reaching a just and lasting settlement for the Palestinian issue. They agreed to intensify efforts to end the Libyan crisis in order to achieve the aspirations of the country’s people.
The two ministers also stressed the importance of continued consultation and coordination between Egypt and Tunisia on various regional and international issues of common interest.
Shoukry took the opportunity to congratulate Minister Jerandi on Tunisia’s successful presidency of the UN Security Council during January.
