The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) issued a decision, on Sunday, requiring companies providing ADSL services to inform users of their consumption of contracted packages.
According to the decision, all providers of this service in Egypt, namely We, Vodafone, Orange, Etisalat, and Noor, must inform their customers of their Internet consumption through free text messages. These will arrive periodically to the user’s mobile phone registered with the operator.
The notification shall be sent at least three times a month, when consumption hits 50%, 75%, and 100% of the package.
In this regard, the NTRA called on users to ensure that they register their mobile numbers with the ADSL service providers to ensure they can benefit from the service.
The authority had, two weeks ago, issued regulatory instructions to mobile companies operating in the Egyptian market requiring them to notify the user when charging the balance, whether by charging cards or by any other means.
Users would be notified of any discounts or debts that are deducted, such as tax or entertainment services and the like.
These steps come within a series of decisions taken by the NTRA in the framework of preserving the rights of users of telecommunications services.
