Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry has highlighted Qatar’s positive message on restoring its relationship with Egypt, following a three-year rift between the two countries.
He noted that Qatar’s positive message reflects the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country’s determination to restore the momentum of the relationship in all political and economic aspects.
Shoukry also confirmed that there is an endeavour to implement the agreement as outlined by the Al-Ula summit, signed in the Saudi city of Al-Ula in January.
The agreement was signed by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain on the one hand, and Qatar on the other, and sought to heal a three-year-long rift between the two sides.
Speaking during a meeting of the foreign relations committee at Egypt’s House of Representatives, the minister said, “The follow-up committee reviews the elements and obligations in this regard, and it is too early to make a final judgment on the results of the summit, because it is under review, deliberation, and evaluation.”
Shoukry indicated that Egypt’s relations with its Arab countries follows a policy of partnership.
He stressed that Egypt is looking forward to activating its existing commitments.
