Adel Hamed, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt (TE), has received a high-level delegation from the Libyan International Telecommunication Company (LITC), headed by the company’s Chairperson Adel Abu Faris.
The Libyan delegation is visiting TE to discuss ways of joint cooperation in the field of international communications, and the transfer of communication traffic between the two countries.
The visit confirms the great confidence that TE enjoys in the field of international telecommunications services. It also affirms the continuity of its pivotal and pioneering role as one of the largest and oldest telecommunications service providers in the world
The two sides discussed ways of joint cooperation in international connectivity, including data and voice services.
Hamed emphasised that raising the efficiency of the trans-boundary terrestrial network is of strategic importance for international connectivity with neighbouring countries.
This Egyptian-Libyan cooperation will be reflected in improving the performance of international telecommunications services. It will also benefit from the TE’s submarine cable infrastructure which extends around the world, and the transfer of international traffic to Libya.
Hamed also stressed that the coming period will witness the provision of more communication services that serve the two peoples in the first place and the African continent in general. This comes particularly after the company’s initiative to launch the HARP maritime system, which will link the entire African continent with Egypt and Europe.
Abu Faris said that this visit comes as part of the exchange of experiences between the two companies, and opens horizons for joint cooperation in the field of communications and technology.
He explained that the LITC is looking forward to more partnerships with TE, to provide advanced technical services in the two countries.
