Egypt Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly approved, on Thursday, the Ministry of Finance’s proposal to increase the training and technology allowance for registered journalists with the Press Syndicate, by 20% at an annual cost of EGP 60m starting from next July.
The government will also allocate EGP 10m to support the syndicate’s pension fund, in addition to providing EGP 20m to support the unemployment allowance for journalists, as of next July.
Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, affirmed that this decision reflects Egypt’s keenness to improve the citizens’ incomes, and its understanding of the additional expenditures that journalists bear to develop their professional and technological capabilities in a manner that qualifies them to fulfill their lofty mission in a more professional manner.
This aligned with the strategic project to achieve digital transformation in Egypt, which requires developing the technical skills of journalists.
