Social media platforms have recently witnessed a plethora of new songs from famed artists to celebrate Egyptian Mother’s Day.
Although it is hard to compete with Mother’s Day classics, such as Fayza Ahmed’s Sett El-Habayeb or Soa’ad Hosni’s Sabah El-Khier ya Mawlaty, this year has done well for itself in terms of the music released.
A children’s choir boosted the influence of long-time star Angham’s short ode Waddoni A’and Ommy, written by Aziz El-Shafei, which attracted hundreds of thousands of fans. The same choir idea was also a key success factor of Jordanian Adham Nabulsi’s chant Ommi, arranged by Joseph Demerjian.
Hisham Abbas’ Omy Ya Omy, composed by Ehab Saleh using Hassan Helmy’s lyrics, is another hark back to the 90s superstar, adding to many other tunes he released for the same occasion before.
Medhat Saleh’s Enti Helwa Fi Kol Wa’t, composed and arranged by Shady Moanes with the light lyrics of Mosata Ibrahim, is probably the only waltz tune for the event. It has been video-clipped by crowd-contributed photos.
Rising Sha’abi talent Samer El-Medany is enjoying his spot among the top releases of the season with Hobbek Ya Ommy, competing with releases from various superstars such as Lebanon’s Nancy Ajram, who released Emmi.
Other notable releases also include Hala Roushdy’s El-Hob Elly Benna and Sherrine’s Heya El-Donia.
These come among hits from Ruby’s return album, alongside Wegz and Friends’ popularity battles with mahragan artists and super stars such as Cairokee and Hamaki.
