The temporary committee that manages Zamalek SC, headed by Emad Abdel Aziz, has threatened to freeze the activities of the club’s football team.

This comes in protest to their recent decisions, in the event that they adhered to the suspension of Imam Ashour and Ahmed Eid for 12 games, as well as the suspension of seven junior players for eight matches. The suspensions come against the background of the recent events that took place during the youth derby between Zamalek and their arch-rivals and fellow Cairene team, Al Ahly.

Zamalek has appealed against the Disciplinary Committee’s decision to announce in the coming days the final decisions whether to reduce or cancel the penalties against Zamalek players.

In another context, a source at the club has renewed his assurances that the renewal of Zamalek’s Tunisian star Ferjani Sassi’s contract has not been concluded.

The source added that Sassi has yet to renew his contract for two reasons, the first of which is that the numbers requested by the Tunisian player for the renewal are rather large. The second reason for the delay is that the club’s treasury does not have large funds that help pay the first instalment for Sassi’s renewal at the very least.

The source indicated that the club is counting on renewing the subscriptions of members of the General Assembly, which will start at the end of next month and would bring in some EGP 100mn, which will certainly help the Zamalek administration to finish the renewal file for Sassi.
