Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed has announced that her ministry’s community communication teams has provided health awareness on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to 1,200 citizens and tourists.
This includes educating those participating on the preventive and precautionary measures against the virus. The teams, who travelled to the Red Sea governorate on Friday and Saturday, also highlighted the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
On Sunday, Zayed directed for the continuous intensification of health awareness and education campaigns for citizens across Egypt. This is with a view to educating them on the precautionary and preventive measures for COVID-19.
The community communication and health education teams at the Ministry of Health and Population began its work in the governorates of Sohag and Assiut during the past week. Other teams have been sent to the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Qaliubiya, and Qena starting from Sunday.
According to a ministry statement, a team has been deployed over the past two days in the various neighborhoods in Hurghada, including gathering places, markets, and public transport stops, in addition to visiting tourist villages and beaches.
The community communication teams are educating citizens and tourists about the importance of adhering to the various preventive and precautionary measures against the coronavirus.
This includes: wearing a mask; washing hands frequently; maintaining social distancing; staying in well-ventilated places; and, going immediately to the hospital if any coronavirus symptoms appear.
Awareness is also being raised about the importance of getting vaccinated against the virus, whether for citizens or workers in the tourism sector. Such widespread vaccination will contribute to limiting the spread of the virus, and preserving public health.
