Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria has said that Egypt’s Coptic Christian community held a special prayer for the resolution of the dispute between Egypt and Ethiopia over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) dispute.

“We look at the fellow country of Ethiopia, as we are in one continent,” the Pope said, adding, “We call for participation, cooperation, and development, so that we all work as brothers of the eternal Nile River.”

Speaking at the Easter Mass that he presided over, on Saturday evening, at the Cathedral of St Mark in the Abbasyia district of Cairo, Pope Tawadros said, “We pray that God will bless all good diplomatic and political efforts, so that we do not resort to any other methods, and we pray for those responsible in this matter.”
