Egypt’s Cancer Genetic Signature Center, affiliated to Tanta University’s Faculty of Medicine, has received international ISO certification.
Hisham Farouk, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation and Executive Director of the Higher Education Development Projects’ Unit, said that the centre received the certificate after gaining funding of about EGP 810,000.
Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reviewed a report on plans to rehabilitate scientific research laboratories in Egyptian universities, so that they can gain international certification.
The report asserted that the project to qualify laboratories for this aims at improving their quality, and help them to apply for international certification, as well as raising the classification of Egyptian universities internationally.
Moreover, Mahmoud Wafiq, Manager of the laboratories rehabilitation project, confirmed that the Development Projects’ Unit has funded 12 laboratories at Tanta University to obtain international certifications. The funding provided for the six non-medical sector laboratories and six medical laboratories, cost about EGP 9.633m.
