Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry held a phone call, on Thursday, with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, to discuss developments in the Palestine-Israel conflict. The two ministers agreed on the need for Israel to stop its attacks on Occupied Palestinian Territories, and to put an end to the bloodshed which began in the past days.
They emphasised the need for a complete ceasefire in Occupied Palestinian Territories to save lives and clear the way for political efforts.
The two ministers stressed that the clashes confirm that political action is an indispensable and irreplaceable matter.
They also stressed that it is important, following the end of the military confrontation, for the international community to move seriously to propose progress towards real and just peace leading to achieving justice in this case.
Shoukry and Lavrov agreed to coordinate with each other and intensify communication with the various parties concerned to end the current deadlock.
This comes particularly in the context of preparing for the upcoming UN Security Council meeting this coming Friday.
This is the third meeting within a week aimed at discussing the crisis in light of the UN Security Council’s responsibility in this regard in maintaining international peace and security.
