Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced, on Monday, that the presidential “Decent Life” initiative aim to improve the quality of life for rural Egyptians, and raise the efficiency of services they receive.
Madbouly’s remarks came during his meeting with Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, and Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla.
During the meeting, the ministers reviewed the ongoing projects that make up the “Decent Life” initiative, and which aim develop Egyptian villages.
During the meeting, Shaker said that all detailed studies for proposed projects under the initiative have been prepared. He also said that the detailed designs and executive panels are being prepared by the implementing authorities, in coordination with electricity companies.
He added that a general engineering consultant was assigned to design and supervise the implementation of all electricity projects in the villages covered by the first phase of “Decent Life” projects.
Shaker asserted his ministry’s efforts to negotiate with members of various chambers of industries and local manufacturers, to obtain all the material needed for projects at appropriate prices.
Meanwhile, El Molla presented the preparations made by his ministry to provide natural gas for villages, adding that the Ministry of Petroleum will provide natural gas for about 1,332 of these villages.
He also noted that the ministry is preparing to deliver natural gas to 199 villages where sanitation projects have also been completed, at a cost of EGP 3.3bn.
The Ministry of Petroleum is planning to deliver natural gas to 423 villages at a cost of EGP 5.5bn, in addition to 710 other villages at a cost of EGP 7.5bn.
