The Portugal and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo is all set to take part in the Euro 2020: with his country, whilst looking to write his name in gold in the history of the championship.
The Portugal legend is looking to equalise records and set new ones, in light of speculation that this tournament could be his last Euro.
In the 2020 version of the tournament, Ronaldo has equalled the achievement of Spanish national team and Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, one of the most prominent goalkeepers in footballing history.
Casillas won multiple titles with both Real Madrid and Spain, and featured in five major tournaments during his career.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo is looking to set a new record for goals scored in one tournament, after equalling in the 2016 tournament French legend Michel Platini’s record of nine goals. The Portugal star led his country to snatch the title at the expense of France.
Ronaldo also hopes to equalise Italian football legend and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon’s record in terms of number of Euro championship appearances.
Ronaldo currently falls just one cap behind Buffon’s at the tournament, with the Portugal star playing in 12 games, against the Italian’s 13.
The Juventus offensive line leader is also looking for just one win at the Euro 2020 championship to equal Spain’s Cesc Fabregas with 11 victories.
Before the start of this edition, he is equal with Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimović, who scored at least one goal in three different editions, and seeks to become the player who scored the most goals for at least two goals in different finals.
