Air Canada and Excel Travel celebrated the commencement of Air Canada first non-stop flight
A delegation from Air Canada has met with leaders of Egypt’s business community during the former’s current visit to Cairo.
Air Canada celebrated the commencement of its first direct flight between Cairo and Montreal starting 19 June 2021. The attendees involved high-rank officials from the Canadian Embassy, the Regional Manager of Air Canada, the Regional Manager of IATA in Egypt, Star Alliance members represented by officials from Egypt Air and Lufthansa Group, as well as top industry leaders from renowned travel agents; they were all hosted by Excel Travel who is the official representative in Egypt, for managing sales on Air Canada’s new route.
Started with George Fawzi, President & CEO of Excel Travel, greeting the guests and introducing Mehdi Sentissi El Idrissi, Country Manager Switzerland, Morocco & Algeria, who gave an interesting speech and presentation.
The meeting witnessed the announcement of Air Canada launching its non-stop year-round service from Montreal, Canada to Cairo, Egypt.
Mehdi Sentissi, Air Canada’s Country Manager, presented the attendees with insights on Air Canada’s state of the art fleet, as well as the science-based measures pioneered by the company to counter COVID-19 pandemic risks and provide the highest level of passenger-centric care.
Sentissi, said, “We are pleased to announce that Air Canada will inaugurate direct service from Cairo to Montreal, on 19 June 2021, offering three flights per week on a 255 seats Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner featuring a choice of three cabins of service: Air Canada Signature Class, Premium Economy, and Economy class.”
He added, “Air Canada’s Montreal-Cairo flights will be serving the large Egyptian diaspora in North America. Air Canada continues to go determinedly above-and-beyond for the protection of our passengers.”
Jasmine Wahhab, Commercial Counsellor and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Embassy of Canada to Egypt, said, “This new direct route to Egypt, a growing economic and industrial hub steeped in history and culture, confirms Montreal’s standing as a vibrant world-class city and Montréal-Trudeau International Airport status as a prime gateway to North America.”
“The non-stop year-round Montreal to Cairo link will also facilitate the expansion of Canadian companies in the robust Egyptian market, enabling them to secure major commercial opportunities in key industry sectors, such as ICT, agri-food, clean-tech, mining, and transportation. Air Canada became the only airline based in the Americas to fly directly to Egypt.”
To limit the further spread of coronavirus, the Government of Canada continues to advise against all non-essential international travel outside of Canada. At this time, Canada remains closed to leisure travellers and entry is only permitted to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and foreign nationals which have an essential reason for entering Canada, such as reuniting with immediate family members.
As of 4 June, all travellers entering or returning to Canada who do not comply with the mandatory COVID-19 testing and the 14-day quarantine requirements may be subject to fines of $5,000 for each offence. Travellers must also complete three nights of mandatory hotel quarantine in government-authorised accommodation.
