Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi issued Republican Decree No 260 of 2021, to increase pensions by 13% starting from July, at a total cost of about EGP 31bn, according to the Official Gazette.

In mid-March, Al-Sisi also directed for an increase in the salaries of public employees, by a total of about EGP 37bn, and raising the minimum wage to EGP 2,400.

He approved increasing the salary increment for state-employees at a cost of EGP 7.5bn, with one increment being a periodic bonus for employees addressed by the civil service law at 7% of the basic salary.

Meanwhile, the second increment is a special bonus for workers not addressed by the civil service law, at 13% of the basic salary.

The President also directed for an increase in the additional incentive for both those addressed and not addressed by the civil service law, at a total cost of about EGP 17bn.

He also directed to promote employees who fulfil the promotion requirements at the end of June 2021, so that they can obtain an improvement in their salaries.

He also directed for the allocation of a financial incentive programme, estimated at about EGP 1.5bn, for workers transferred to the New Administrative Capital (NAC).
