Students complained, on Wednesday, about the difficulty of the Algebra and Stereo Geometry exam in this year’s Thanaweyya Amma (high school leaving) exams.
Some students said that about 25% of the exam’s questions were difficult, while others expressed their dissatisfaction with the answers. The students also noted that the exam was long, and more time was required for the paper. Meanwhile, some students said that the exam was normal with only a few difficult questions.
The comments made by students following the exam has left parents anxious, with some also voicing their objections to the new Babel Sheet system, noting that it puts the student under pressure.
About 100,435 high school students from the Mathematics division took the Algebra and Stereo Geometry exam, amid strict precautionary measures to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
However, only 30 minutes into the exam, parts of the mathematics paper were reproduced on social media pages, including Facebook and Telegram.
The Central Operations Room at the Ministry of Education and Technical Education has so far found nine cases of academic misconduct, including photocopying the exam papers and having mobile phones inside.
This year’s Thanaweyya Amma exams are being held inside secured committees and monitored by cameras inside schools.
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education has confirmed that exam corrections will take place electronically, with the results to be announced 10 days after the end of exams on 2 August.
