Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned, on Sunday, the renewed violations in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli extremists under the protection of Israeli forces.

Ahmed Hafez, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of the violations.

He also recalled that Egypt has always warned against harming Islam’s third holiest site, which enjoys a position of significance among Muslims worldwide.

Hafez also indicated that the mosque is a place of worship for Muslims and that, given its sacred status, the responsibility lies with the Israeli authorities to provide protection for worshipers to maintain security and stability.

He stressed the need for Israel to refrain from everything that contributes to creating any tension or action that leads to this escalation.

Hafez reiterated the need to revive the negotiations process, on the basis of legal references and known international resolutions and legitimacy as part of the two-state solution.
