German Ambassador to Egypt Cyrill Nunn has left Cairo as his two-year tenure as Berlin’s top diplomat in the North African country ended.
Nunn’s departure ceremony on Wednesday was attended by many Egyptian and foreign public figures, including Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani, famous singer Mohamed Mounir, archaeologist Zahi Hawass, and the Executive Director of the Arab-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
During the event, Nunn recalled some of the special events he witnessed during his tenure in Egypt in the fields of politics, economy, culture, and development.
He also thanked all partners for their intense and fruitful cooperation.
On this occasion, he stated: “At that moment, I have many moving memories. During my tenure here, I was pleased to see the diverse bilateral relations standing on a firm foundation. The cooperation with our Egyptian partners has always been marked by great trust based on a framework of mutual respect between Chancellor Merkel and President Al-Sisi, as well as other pillars.”
Addressing Minister Al-Anani, Nunn stressed the uniqueness of Egypt’s historical and cultural richness, which not only made this country a magnet to attract German tourists, but also made him want to return to visit it in the future.
