Frank Hartmann has handed over a copy of his credentials as Ambassador of Germany to Cairo to Egypt’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Habashi.
Hartmann was previously the Commissioner for Crisis Management at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
Ambassador Hartmann said, “Egypt is a country with a long history of thousands of years and enjoying great cultural richness. It is my pleasure to represent Germany over the coming years as an ambassador in this unique part of the world, Our two countries have a partnership extending for decades in various fields.”
Noteworthy, Hartmann had joined the diplomatic corps in 1993, and held several positions in the German Foreign office, the Federal Chancellery and German diplomatic missions in Beijing and Tokyo, and also held the position of Director of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner in Sarajevo.
Hartmann succeeds Cyrill Nunn, who served in Cairo from August 2019 to August 2021, and then left Egypt to work as German Ambassador to the Netherlands.
