The Supreme Consultative Council of the General Authority of the Aswan High Dam (AHD) and Aswan Reservoir held a meeting, on Tuesday, under the chairmanship of Mohamed Abdel Aty, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
During the meeting, the Council discussed the current flood situation, the measures taken by the ministry to manage the water system with the highest degree of efficiency, and the different scenarios to deal dynamically with the various incoming discharges were reviewed.
The meeting was held in presence of heads of departments and sectors at the Irrigation Ministry and the National Water Research Center, representatives of all stakeholders, and many university professors, experts and specialists.
Abdel Aty stated that the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation is keen to follow up the construction status of all water facilities nationwide.
He noted that the follow-up process aims to ensure the state of the facility or building, especially the Aswan High Dam, through the study of the meteorological development of the AHD that is being prepared, and the old Aswan Reservoir, which is currently being rehabilitated.
The minister pointed to the importance of holding the council meeting on a permanent and continuous basis to discuss technical issues and topics related to the High Dam and the Aswan Reservoir and their annexes, with the participation of national experts, cadres and professors of universities.
He further noted that the council was re-formed in 2016 with the inclusion of many authorities and specialists in order to activate its role.
