Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued, on Monday, the primary data for the country’s manufacturing and extractive industries index in June 2021.
The agency said that the manufacturing and extractive industries index, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, reached 117.80 during June 2021 (primary), compared to 102.89 during May 2021 (final), an increase of 14.49 %.
Economic activities that saw an increase included the manufacture of beverages which reached 368.63 during June 2021, compared to 325.56 in May 2021, an increase of 13.23%, due to increased demand for drinks in the summer.
The manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations reached 124.55 during June 2021, compared to 90.55 in May 2021, an increase of 37.54%, due to the coronavirus crisis.
Meanwhile, a decrease was seen in other economic activities, including mining and quarry, which reached 201.01 during June 2021, compared to 239.54 in May 2021, a decrease of 16.08%. The manufacture of basic metals reached 67.03 in June, down from 67.89 in May 2021.
