Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said, in a conference on Wednesday, that there was no intention to postpone the mandatory subscription to the Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) system.
He added that his Ministry was proceeding with the national project to modernise and automate the customs system, in implementation of presidential directives to facilitate internal and external trade movement, reduce import and export costs, and reduce customs clearance time, which would reduce prices of goods and services in the local market.
Moreover, before the end of 2021, it is intended that the national single window platform for foreign trade facilitation, Nafeza, will extend to all Egypt’s ports; in order to complete an integrated customs strategy system. Maait explained that the Nafeza system covered 95% of Egypt’s imports and exports.
Total of 2,500 companies have registered about 18,000 successful customs transactions through the ACI system, since its trial launch last April.
He added that several incentives were approved in the new system, including a 50% discount on subscription fees for those who register e-signature before the end of this August, and 30% for those who register in the first half of next September, and 20% for those who register before the end of September.
