Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed met, on Wednesday, Lebanese Ambassador to Cairo Ali Al-Halabi, to discuss ways to support the Lebanese health sector.
The meeting discussed the efforts of the Egyptian medical team in Lebanon who travelled to Beirut following the Akkar explosion to help in providing medical treatment for the victims. That team consisted of specialists in plastic surgeries and burns.
During the meeting, Zayed stressed the importance of solidarity with brotherly countries in times of crisis. She also confirmed the readiness of the ministry’s medical supply stores with a system of fixed balances of supplies to meet any needs to help brothers in the Arab countries in case of emergencies and crises.
Moreover, the Health Minister affirmed Egypt’s readiness to meet all the needs of the health sector in Lebanon in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
She further expressed Egypt’s readiness to provide the Lebanese people with COVID-19 vaccines in conjunction with increasing national production, after achieving local self-sufficiency.
For his part, the Lebanese Ambassador thanked the Egyptian political leadership and the Minister of Health for the rapid response and for sending a team of consultants and doctors to Lebanon after the Akkar accident occurred.
