Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has opened the door for young people to apply for a scholarship accredited by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the fields of data science and big data.

According to a press release on Saturday, the scholarship aims to hone the skills of 500 young people specialized in these fields, thus enhancing their ability to meet the needs of the labour market and serve national projects.

This comes within the framework of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology strategy to build the capacities of Egyptian youth, qualify them for the local and global labour market, and create a base of technical cadres capable of implementing Egypt’s digital projects.

Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said that the Ministry is keen to create strategic partnerships with major international technology companies to provide trained young cadres and refine their practical experiences in advanced technology, especially data science, which is one of the promising disciplines that represent future professions in light of the heavy use of digital technologies in all sectors.

He pointed out that the scholarship aims to graduate a new generation of data science specialists with an internationally accredited certificate, provide information technology markets in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa with data scientists with practical experience, and improve the skills of workers in small and medium enterprises in Egypt to increase their ability to participate effectively in Egypt’s projects.

The training content is created by specialized experts on the part of AWS through digital mechanisms, in addition to providing several training platforms, virtual classes and practical exercises to build the capabilities of trainees from the foundational level to highly specialized levels, in line with the standards and requirements of the global labour market.
