Assem Al-Gazzar, the Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, has followed up on the progress of housing and service projects in the Capital Gardens City, one of the smart fourth-generation cities in Egypt.

The total investments injected in housing projects in the city so far have reached EGP 15.1bn.

The minister explained that more than 92,000 housing units have been implemented and planned, most of which are for low-income citizens, within the state’s plan to provide housing units for citizens of different income brackets.

In a statement yesterday, the minister confirmed that the city had taken into account the issue of providing “appropriate” affordable housing in the city when planning the implementation of projects, which was translated into an increase in citizens’ demand to reserve various housing units within the announcements of the presidential initiative “housing for all Egyptians”.

The minister pointed out that the general plan of the city includes housing areas of various densities, service areas at different planning levels, industrial areas and investment projects, green hubs, logistical areas, and investment projects.

Al-Gazzar noted that for the 2,350-feddan area, 29,496 housing units are being implemented in the 10th phase; 32,088 housing units are being implemented in the 14th phase of housing for all Egyptians, along with 30,420 housing units in the extension of the 14th phase.

Total of 1,824 housing units for middle-income people are under-construction in the 15th phase.

As for the implementation of service projects in the first phase in the 2,350-feddan area, Adel Abdel Aziz, head of the Capital Gardens City Authority, said that 15 various service buildings have been assigned and are being implemented, comprising 3 schools, 2 nurseries, a health unit, 2 bakeries, 4 commercial markets, 8 stores, a youth centre, and a mosque.
